PUBLIC NOTICE: With the mowing season started, the city would like to remind everyone not to spread, distribute, place or blow grass clippings, yard waste, or other similar nuisance materials onto the streets, into the storm drains, or sanitary sewer facilities. Below is the official codified ordinance. It can also be found in the City Ordinance Main Menu. 


   (a)   Citizens, property owners, renters, businesses, and industries are hereby forbidden to spread, distribute, place or blow grass clippings, yard waste, or other similar nuisance materials onto the streets, into the storm drains, sanitary sewer facilities or appurtenances thereto.

   (b)   Materials that are generated as a result of windstorm damage, such as tree branches and limbs shall not be subject to the limitations, restrictions or penalties herein described.

   (c)   Leaves, grass, and miscellaneous yard waste placed on the street during the annual fall leaf collection during the months of October through December shall not be subject to the limitations, restrictions, or penalties herein described.

   (d)   Whoever violates division (a) of this section shall be subject to an immediate fine of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for the first offense and fifty dollars ($50.00) for any subsequent violations that occur within the next six months following the first offense.  In addition, violators of this section shall have 24 hours following notification to clean up the cited materials that have been placed, spread, or blown onto the street, after which time the City's Public Works Department will be dispatched to clean the site at a fee of seventy-five dollars ($75.00) per hour; said clean-up fee will then fee added to the utility bill for said property.  The Public Works Department fees shall be based from the time the equipment and staff leave the department headquarters until they return to headquarters.  If said fee is left unpaid through utility collection, the electric and/or water service to the residence on the property will be terminated in accordance with normal policy and procedures established by the City for non-payment.

It has come to our attention that the current utility bills are not arriving on time this month. They were mailed from Dayton on March 29th and a few statements have been delivered but it appears the bulk of them are missing. We have been in contact with the printing service and they are trying to track down the problem after they were delivered by them to the Dayton Post Office. If you wish to view your bill online you may go to wapakoneta.net and click on view your utility bill. If you need your total please give us a call at 419-738-3011. We are sorry for any inconvenience in regards to this incident. We have extended the due date to April 16th to allow you time to make payment. Thank you for your understanding.

This law was passed due to the rise in complaints by the public regarding not only people selling items but the aggressive tactics and manner in which some salespeople use.  ATTENTION TO ALL RESIDENTS!!! : It has been brought to our attention that during an online search to pay their bill, some residents have found themselves on a third-party website “Doxo”. While this is a legitimate company it is in no way affiliated with the City of Wapakoneta. This company will charge a fee, and in most cases, make a late payment on your account. If you want to pay your utility bill online you can use our official website and auto pay is available as well.

  • Effective January 20, 2017., Auglaize County is a Certified Building Department, and effective March 3, 2017, certified sub­departments of Auglaize County include: Cridersville, Minster, New Bremen, New Knoxville, Waynesfield, St. Marys, and Wapakoneta, for all commercial construction activity subject to compliance with the Ohio Building Code. The Miami County Department of Development (Building Department), under contract by agreement between Auglaize County commissioners and Miami County commissioners, will conduct plan review and inspections for all commercial construction activity in Auglaize County. All commercial construction projects currently under review or in process toward final certificates of occupancy with the State of Ohio will remain where originally submitted until completion.

    Necessary forms, procedures, checklists, copies of the Ohio Building Code, and contact information will be available at the Auglaize County office and all sub­department municipal offices.
