The City of Wapakoneta officially marks a significant leadership transition within our Public Works Department as Mr. Anthony Drexler steps into the role of Public Works Superintendent.

We take this opportunity to extend our deepest gratitude to the outgoing Superintendent, Mr. William R. Thomas, known to many as Whitey, for his extraordinary dedication and unwavering service.

A Legacy of Service: William R. Thomas

Whitey's commitment to the City of Wapakoneta spans several decades. His tenure began in 1976, and after a brief period away, he returned to the City’s employ in 1997, providing continuous and invaluable contributions for nearly three decades. Rising to the leadership position of Public Works Superintendent in 2016, Mr. Thomas skillfully oversaw the critical maintenance, infrastructure, and operational functions that keep the City running smoothly and safely.

We publicly acknowledge William R. Thomas for his exceptional loyalty and service. The City extends its deepest gratitude and commendation for his exemplary career, wishing him a well-deserved retirement filled with health, happiness, and relaxation.

We are excited to welcome Anthony Drexler, known to many as Treg, who has been a valued member of the department since August 2012, as he takes the helm. To ensure a seamless continuation of our essential services, Treg has spent the last month training directly under Whitey. This cooperative mentorship guarantees a smooth and effective transfer of leadership.
