We are very proud to recognize our Electric Department for receiving the Community & Workforce Development Award from American Municipal Power (AMP) for the City's participation in the Wapakoneta Internship and Networking (WIN) Program!

The WIN Program, developed by Wapakoneta City Schools, connects high school students with local businesses and organizations to gain hands-on experience, explore career opportunities, and develop valuable skills. Through paid internships and other opportunities to learn directly from professionals, students can discover their interests and begin finding their place in the workforce.

We believe one of the greatest investments we can make in our community is in the next generation of leaders and problem solvers. Programs like WIN give young people an opportunity to experience both public service and the private sector in a positive and meaningful way, while gaining a better understanding of the opportunities available right here in their own community.

While this award recognizes our Electric Department, all City departments participate in the WIN Program, welcoming students interested in exploring different areas of public service. Whether through hands-on work experience, job shadowing, or simply learning more about what a department does, our goal is to help students explore their interests and discover possibilities for their future.

A special thank you to Wapakoneta City Schools for developing this program and allowing the City to be part of it, as well as the local businesses and organizations that help make these opportunities possible. This partnership is a great example of how our schools, businesses, and local government can work together to invest in the future of our community.

Congratulations again to our Electric Department, and thank you to all of our City employees who take the time to mentor, encourage, and share their knowledge with these students.

Giving back to our community isn't just about the work we do today. It's also about helping the next generation find their path forward.
