❄️ Winter Weather Advisory: City of Wapakoneta Prep❄️
The City of Wapakoneta is closely monitoring the winter weather forecast for this upcoming weekend. Our teams are already in motion to ensure our community remains safe and accessible.
Our Action Plan
Pretreatment: Crews are currently out pretreating main roads to get ahead of the accumulation.
Ready to Respond: We have teams from Electric, Public Works, and other key departments on standby, ready to jump into action the moment conditions necessitate.
How You Can Help
To help our crews work as efficiently and safely as possible, we ask residents to keep the following in mind:
Give Crews Space: Please maintain a safe distance from plows and salt trucks.
Clear the Streets: Avoid parking on the street. Empty roadways allow our drivers to clear snow more thoroughly and quickly. (https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/wapakoneta/latest/wapa_oh/0-0-0-72079#JD_452.17)
Snow Disposal: A friendly reminder to avoid blowing or shoveling snow back into the roadway.
The City of Wapakoneta has full confidence in our dedicated teams to prioritize the safety and well-being of our residents. We thank you for your patience and cooperation as we navigate this winter event together.

At 8:00 AM this morning, Walt Axtell, Eric Schroeder, and Jared Osborne of the Wapakoneta Electric Department deployed to Forest City, North Carolina, in response to a mutual aid request. As the region braces for an impending winter storm forecasted to bring significant ice and snow, our team will join a regional crew in Piqua, Ohio, before continuing their journey south.
We are immensely proud of their dedication to service, which extends well beyond our local community. Their readiness to provide aid under hazardous conditions is a direct reflection of our department's core values and commitment to public safety. We wish them safe travels and a secure return home!
