Yesterday, a variety of teams from the City of Wapakoneta headed over to the Wapakoneta City Schools Career Fair to meet with some fantastic students. It was a great day of sharing what we do and showing the kids that they don’t have to look far to find a meaningful career path. We loved seeing their curiosity about how our city runs and hope it sparked some excitement about the possibility of serving their own community right here at home in the future!

We are proud to share that the Wapakoneta Electric Department has been officially recognized by the Ohio House of Representatives for receiving a Certificate of Excellence in Reliability from the American Public Power Association.
This distinction is a testament to our team’s unwavering commitment to keeping the lights on. According to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, Wapakoneta’s utility ranked in the top twenty-fifth percentile nationwide for reliability during 2025.
A special thank you to Representative Angela N. King and Speaker Matt Huffman for this commendation, and an even bigger thank you to our hardworking employees who ensure our city remains powered and prepared.

What a beautiful afternoon in Wapakoneta! We want to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who joined us at City Hall this past Friday to celebrate Arbor Day and honor the memory of Bonnie C. Wurst.
It was great to see friends, family members, and neighbors come together to plant a living tribute to a woman who gave so much to our city. Bonnie’s legacy of civic leadership is now rooted firmly in our soil, and as this tree grows, it will serve as a lasting reminder of her dedication to our community.
